ASHFORD AC have two county 10km champions following the Kent championships at East Malling.
Kevin Williams secured the M50 title clocking 36 minutes and 36 seconds while Lesley Hall took the women’s O55 honours with a fine 45:27, both runners winning by more than half a minute from their nearest rivals.
Both Ashford boys and girls finished third in the latest Kent Young Athletes League meetings at Norman Park, Bromley.
The U13 girls were second in their section spurred by a winning double by Jaimee Ann Heyes who won the A discus with 20.21m and added the A hammer in a much closer battle with 12.84m.
Ashford went close to a win double in the long jump with Chloe Foord second in the A event with 3.73m while Emilie Knights-Toomer won the B string with 3.57m.
Chloe secured victory in the B 150m race with 22.0 with Emilie third in the A race, while in the 70m hurdles Alexandra Prickett won the B race with 12.6 with Emilia Isaac just edged out of the A victory with 12.3.
There were also good displays Jessica Box and Jessica Carley.
Charlotte Tappenden was the star of the U15 girls winning the 75m hurdles in a photo finish clocking 12.7 and also scored well in the 300m and high jump.
Hannah Owen was a fine second in the A shot with 7.62m and fourth in the javelin. Good support was provided by Ciara Ewart, Danielle Godden, Eve Graham and Eleanor Potter.
Both boys squads were third in their meeting with a superb win double coming in the U15 80m hurdles with Ben Isaac taking the A section 12.2 and Cameron Amedee the B race in 13.0.
They were close to another double in the discus with Alex Lynch second in the A event with 31.36m and Ed Millar winning the B event with 23.51m. The duo also shone in the shot putt while Alex won the A hammer in style with 27.82m.
Alex Hardy won the B high jump with 1.35m in a good class competition with Daniel Hall clearing 1.40m in the A section.
There was a good showing in the 1500m Joe Briault third in the A race and Kieran Eland second in the B race. Alex Hardy and Eland did well in the 300m while Hall and Amadee battled strongly in the 200m. Declan Burton came in to help the 4x300m squad to third place.
In the U13 boys the hurdles again provided Ashford with a win Jake Timmins taking the 75m hurdles race and was also fourth in the long jump with Elliott Rudd a fine second in the B section. Lewis Godden and Giles Manning and Harry Pitman picked up points in the sprints.
Finlay Robinson backed up Lewis in the 1500m while Kian Robinson scored well in the shot, discus and javelin backed up by Finlay and Lewis.
