Jade shines in Kent League

JADE CURTIS was one of the stars of Ashford AC’s second Kent Young Athlete meeting held at Canterbury.
The talented young under-13 athlete won the A 70m hurdles in commanding style with 12.2 seconds and also took the A long jump with 4.92m in a fine double with Hannah Graham who won the B event with 3.30m.
Hannah was second in the B hurdles. while Jade was third in the B 75m sprint while Ella Hindle stepped up to take third in the A race. . The trio were joined by Faith Etokowo for fourth in the sprint relays.
Good points were alss added by Hannah Brooks, Alice Bussey, Jaqueline Benson and Rebecca Humphries as the U13s finished fifth in their Division 1 section.
The U15 girls were fourth overall with the only A win coming from Grace Sullivan taking the long jump with a splendid 4.90m and Chloe Foord almost made it a double second in the B event with 4.30m.
Hannah Owen had a good day winning the B discus, second in the shot and also running the A 200m.
Jaimee-Ann Heyes was another busy athlete with seconds in the A discus and A javelin with Emilie Knights-Toomer winning the B javelin with another competitive throw.
Emilia Isaac and Alexandra Prickett both notched seconds in the A and B 75m hurdles in another small squad.

Ashford also ran a team in Division 2 with the best result a second in the U13 A 75m from Lauren Chambers who also did well in the B long jump and Faith Cox was third in the A 150m.
There were also outings in this age group for Elizabeth Fraser and Ashley Ward.
Eve Graham stood out for the U15 girls, fourth in the A 200, third in the high jump and second in the B long jump where Eleanor Potter claimed third in the A jumps. Also in action were Leia Desseaux and Jemma Coales who did well in the field events.

In the Division 1 boys the U15s shone with third place despite the only event win coming in the B 80m hurdles by Jake Timmins with Cameron Amadee second in the A race.
Peter Banks got two fine thirds in the 200m and 300m sprints as well as an excellent second in the A long jump where George Maher replicated the effort in the B event.
Ed Miller got two fine thirds in the A shot and discus matched by Maher and Kian Crawford in the B events while Ben Chapman took second in the B 300m and third in the B high jump. Also in action was Matt Cranfield in the B 200m.
Another small squad were in the U13 competition with Lewis Godden securing a terrific A win in the long jump as well as second in the A 1500m and stepping up with 13.7 in the 100m.
He was well backed up by Harry Pitman, Tom Keaveney and Henry Fairbrother.

Youngsters up and running

ASHFORD AC’s youngsters launched their bid for the Kent Young Athletes League with some fine performances at Norman Park.
Pick of the U13 boys was Lewis Godden with a double success winning the discus with a convincing 14.47m and the long jump in fine style with 4.43m. Lewis was also close to the treble finishing second in the A 800m.
Harry Pitman shone in the 200m winning with 29.8 and was third in the A 100m and well as running well in the 800m.
Despite good points from Thomas Keanvey Ashford suffered from too small a squad leaving 11 events unchallenged.
Ashford’s U15 boys were third in their section with their best results coming in the javelin with an A win by Ed Miller with 34.39m and Kian Crawford second in the B event with 23.31..
Good points also came in the discus with Miller second and Crawford third in their sections.
Daniel Hall won the B long jump with 4.34m with George Maher third in the A event with 4.58m and Daniel was also third in the B high jump. Maher and Matthew Cranfield were both third in the shot and the duo joined Ellis Bennett and Alex Hardy to take second in the 4x300m relay.
Ben Chapman and Jake Timmins took thirds in the 80m hurdles and also in the points was sprinter Ben Chapman.

Leading the way in the U15 girls was a fine double success in the javelin for Emilie Knights-Toomer taking the A honours with 24.77m and Jaimee-Ann Heyes winning the B section with 18.68m, both recording personal bests.
Jaimee-Ann also was third in the A hammer and third in the B high jump while Emilie joined Eve Graham, Alexandra Prickett and Hannah Owen for third in the 100m relay event.
Eve also had a fourth in the 100m sprint, third in the B 200m and second in the B long jump while Chloe Foord picked up good points in the A long jump and 200m and B 75m hurdles.
There were fine efforts too by Eleanor Potter, Danielle Godden and Ellie Atkins.
The U13 girls also finished fourth in their secion with best haul coming in the long jump with an A victory by Jade Curtis with 4.22m and second in the B section by Hannah Graham with 3.20m.
The duo also shone in the 70m hurdles both in second with 13.3 and 16.6 respectively.
Jacqueline Benson notched a personal best in winning the 1000m walk while Ella Hindle won the B 100m in a best of 11.3 with Jade fourth in the A race also with 11.3.. Faith Cox also had a fine run in the C race winning with 11.5 and was fifth in the 600m with Hannah Brooks a fine secondAlso in the points were Faith Etokowo and Rebecca Humphries.

Double success for Emilia

ASHFORD AC’s Emilia Isaac had an outstanding day helping the girls finish second overall by just half a point at the Kent Young Athletes League meeting at Erith.
The talented U13 notched victories in the 70m hurdles with 12.6 and long jump 4.21m; was also second in the B shot with 6.16m and anchored the relay squad.
The long jump gave the club their only girls double of the day with Chloe Foord winning the B event with 3.91m and Alexandra Prickett almost did the same in the hurdles missing the B victory by .1 of a second with 13.6.
Jaimee Ann Heynes won the A javelin with a personal best 23.90m, was third in the A shot with another best 6.43m and was a fine second in the B high jump with a third personal best 1.20m.
There were also fine contributions from Asha Root, Jaqueline Benson, Jessica Box and Sienna Farrance.
The U15 girls all contributed strongly for third in their group but the sole victory came in the relay run by Ruby Cox, Hannah Owen, Charlotte Tappenden and Ciara Ewart.
Rebecca Cock shone with three personal bests second in the discus 17.60m, fifth in the shot 5.85m and fourth in the B hurdles 15.9.
Closest to victory was Charlotte Tappenden narrowly edged out in the A high jump with 1.40m with Hannah Owen second in the B event on countback with 1.35m.
Eleanor Potter had a personal best 30.6 in the B 200m and Natlie (corr) Wyborn a best 2:43.5 in the A 800m.
The girls are third overall in the latest league table.
Ashford’s boys are also third after a second place at Erith spurred by a victory for the U15s scoring well across the events but with the only wins coming in B events.
Kyle Denning had two wins taking the B 800m in a personal best 2:23.0 with Kieran Eland also running a pb in the A race of 2:19.5 and Kyle won the B 80m hurdles in another best of 14.3 with Cameron Amadee a tight second in the A race with a best of 12.9.
Daniel Steadman won the B javelin with Ed Miller almost making it a double second in the A event and the roles were reversed in the shot with Miller winning the B event and Steadman second in the A contest with a personal best 8.30m.
Ed was also second in the A discus where Alex Hardy was the B event winner.
In the sprints Peter Banks had a personal best in the 100m with 13.0 as did Josh Palmer in the B race with the same time and in the 200m Zak Shaikh backed up Banks with a pb in the B race with 28.8.
The U13s celebrated two A wins with Jake Timmins taking the A 75m hurdles with a personal best 13.0 with Joe Whitby close to the double with a best of 14.2 while Elliott Rudd won the A high jump with a personal best 1,40m with Jake second in the B event with 1.25m.
No competitors in three events cost them dearly but there were good contributions from Harry Pitman and Henry Fairbrother.
