The British Masters Indoor Pentathlon championships took place at the Lee Valley complex on Sunday, with just the one representative from AAC, Peter Davey, taking part.
Having enjoyed an excellent outdoor season in 2010, Peter was looking forward to the event; even having a short notice shot putt session with Ted Hawkins’ group on the Tuesday evening.
Competing in the M35 age group, the events were 60mHurdles, Long Jump, Shot Putt, High Jump and finally the 1000 metres. As expected, Peter’s Shot Putt was his weakest event, but other four disciplines brought out good performances from Peter, including an indoor pb in the High Jump in which he cleared 1.66 metres.
Peter’s total score of 2656 points was comfortably good enough to take the Gold medal and the score was also a club Vets record. In addition Peter took the club Vets records in the High Jump, Long Jump and the 1000 metres for very encouraging start to 2011.
