Jumpers rise to the top

ASHFORD AC pulled off another terrific double in the National Junior League high jump at Tonbridge with A and B wins for Debbie Martin and Hester Hill.
They recorded heights of 1.66m and 1.45m respectively and there was another in the 100m hurdles where Caroline Hatley won the A race in 15.75m and Laura Hanagan took the B points with 16.10 in the B race. Caroline also had second in the B long jump with 44.38m and Laura third in the javelin with a best ever 20.84m and added a second in the 400m hurdles.
There nearly was another club double in the pole vault where Caitlin Dock was second in the A clash with 2.50m and Amelia Jones winning the B event with 1.90m, both girls notching personal bests. Amelia was also second in the A 400m and third in the 800m.
Rachel Hanagan again secured good points winning the B hammer with a personal best 21.14m with Amber Regardsoe so close to making it double success with a fine 23.21m. Rachel was also second in the B shot with Amber second in the A clash with 8.93m and Amber was also third in the A discus with 26.53m and fifth in the 1500m in a personal best 7:13.17.
Lucy Holmes had a splendid day with seconds in the A long jump with a personal best 4.90m, triple jump with 9.12m and javelin with 24.88m and a third in the discus with 18.63m.
Joanna Norman claimed the club’s only other victory winning the B triple jump with 9.05m while Debbie Martin had a best ever 28.32 in the B 200m.
Declan O’Driscoll ran a personal best 11:19.68 with second in the B 3000m with Aaron Kellow third in the A race. Declan also had a best ever 2:15.07 in the B 800 and 14.54m in the B discus.
Neil Daughters claimed second in the B 1500m with Jack Wreathall fourth in the A event while Andrew Robertson ran a personal best 7:11.59 for third in the 1k steeplechase. Jack also ran a best ever 56.44 in the B 400m.
Other bests recorded included Louise Barclay’s 3:06.18 in the B 800m and 13:53.21 in the B 3000m; Isabel Dickinson’s 13:53.21 in the B 3000m, Andrew Robertson’s 66.1 in the A 400m hurdles; Jacob Lane’s 1.50m in the A high jump; Will Dickinson’s 4.99m in the A long jump and 7.72m in the A shot; Aaron Kellow’s 15.47m in the A discus and Callum Burgess 4.25m in the B hammer.
