2014 Givaudan/Ashford AC 10k

Student Phil Hurst topped a record field in the Givaudan 10k Road race in Ashford with a storming run finishing more than two minutes clear of his nearest rival.
The Christ Church University student, a former North of England junior 1500m and cross country champion from Newcastle, posted a stunning 31 minutes 40 seconds to take the trophy in near perfect conditions.
Ashford AC’s Robert Latala, recently second in the Folkestone Rotary Half Marathon, had to settle for second again racing home a clear runner-up in 34:08 but also picked up the trophy for the best finisher from the Ashford area.
He was well supported by Declan Burton, sixth with 35:11 and Matt Britton seventh with the same time, as Ashford added the men’s team trophy. Third overall was Canterbury Harrier Tom Purnell in 34:46.
There were also excellent performances from Matt Hogben (13th) and Kevin Williams (25th).
Women’s honours went to Paddock Wood’s Maria Heslop, 22nd overall, who clocked a commanding 37:06.
Second was Roz Maslen with 41:23 of Hastings Runners from Pru Clements from Tunbridge Wells Harriers with 41:36.

There were also fun runs for the youngsters with races for Under 15s and Under 11s and Sportshall events as well for the children.
