Young Ashford Athletic Club race walker steps up to another challenge.

Fifteen year old, Grace Whittingham, earned a late call to represent England Under-18s Athletics Team in the Nations Cup in Dublin on August 3rd. Grace, the youngest of the England team, did not disappoint. Showing good technique and tactics under some strict local judges, Grace smashed her own personal best time for the 2000m Walk by over a minute with 10m48.73s for third place overall.

“I was very nervous but positive, and really pleased with my performance and enjoyed being part of the England Team” said Grace soon after her performance.

Grace became the second Ashford race walker to represent England this Summer. Training partner Millie Morris, 16, represented English Schools' in the annual athletics home nations match. This time England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales met in Swansea and Millie competed in the 3000m Walk.  She, too, smashed her personal best time with 16m03.35s for 4th place.
