Julie Rose Stadium Closed for Second Lockdown

Posted: 2nd Nov 2020 by Kate Dickinson

Dear Members,

As you will all be aware, new government guidelines are coming into effect this week from Thursday 5th November due to Covid-19.

Unfortunately, from Wednesday 4th November (8:30pm closing time), the Julie Rose Stadium will be shut. It is hoped that it will re-open again on Thursday 3rd December.

We will keep everyone posted on any new updates along the way, both here on the website and on Facebook. Please also keep an eye out on your registered email address as there will be a newsletter released shortly.

Thank you to everyone who has been supporting the new rules and guidelines while we have been back training at the track. It has been strange, but I hope you will agree that it actually worked once we got going.

We look forward to hopefully welcoming everyone back in December.

Jacqi (AAC Chairperson) and Executive Committee.

Ashford AC Welcome a New Management Team at the Julie Rose Stadium

Posted: 16th Sep 2020 by Kate Dickinson

Ashford AC would like to extend a warm welcome to our new Stadium Managers, and a new training ratio introduced.

Freedom Leisure took over the management of the Julie Rose Stadium as of September 1st 2020, and Ashford AC are now looking forward to a very positive future working relationship.

The club started to train at the stadium under strict Covid-19 rules in July, and it has been a steep learning curve for all involved. We were limited to the number of coaches and athletes that we could work with under UKA/ Stadium Guidance, but things are slowly moving on.

After discussions with Freedom Leisure and new risk assessments, we are pleased to announce that we are now able to have a working ratio of 10 athletes to one coach. This will allow us to involve more athletes per session. We can also go from 4 coaches to 5 coaches per session, but the fifth group will be field event coaching, and not be using the track at all.

If you have not been currently training, please do NOT just turn up at the track. Please contact your usual coach (details on AAC website) to make sure that he or she knows that you wish to train and get ready for competitions when they restart-all be it in a small way!! Your coach will let you know if they have space to take you and when. All coaches too have restrictions placed upon them, so please be patient.

The session times are still 5.30pm-6.45pm and 7pm-8.30pm. This allows for the 15-minute change over between the two sessions. All parents and athletes will still need to use the one-way exit system as soon as possible after the session has ended, and siblings are not allowed to be on site.

Whilst we are now able to use all lanes of the track, lane one is to be kept clear. The groups of athletes are not allowed to join, and social distancing is still to be enforced. SO please make sure that you always listen to your coach for instructions. That way we can make sure that we get the most benefit for all athletes from the sessions.  We are working with Freedom Leisure to allow parents /spectators to be able to use the stands. You will be informed when we can do this, as there will be a routine to follow.

The only toilet facilities available for use are those ‘under’ the stadium, at the bottom of the stairs. The correct pathways in and out of the stadium must be followed.

The Club Covid Officers, Jacqi, Donna and Stella will be on track to ensure that all guidelines are being adhered to by both athletes and coaches and parents. Please contact Jacqi or Donna if you have any queries.
