Cross Country Success Continues for the Small Twins

Posted: 15th Feb 2020 by Lewis Smith

Ashford AC star, Louis Small, won the Under-17’s South East Schools' Inter Counties cross country race in convincing style, at the beginning of February. Louis led from the start, and gradually built up a commanding lead of over twenty seconds from his rivals, who were competing for school county teams from all over the South East.

Louis now joins his twin brother, Jack, in the Under-17's Kent School Team. Jack had already secured his place, following an impressive second place at the Kent Schools’ Cross Country Championships a few weeks ago. The Kent team is now preparing for the English Schools’ National Cross Country Championships, in Liverpool, in March.

Just before the National Championships, the twins will also be representing the Kent County team at the CAU Inter-Counties Cross Country Championships, in Loughborough, in a few weeks’ time.

Jack and Louis will be joined by three other Ashford AC runners in the County team. Selection for the County team clearly shows the wealth of young long distance talent currently at the Club, explains Club coach Stella Bandu. Racing against elite county teams from all over the UK, the team will include Elisha Roger (Under-17), Under-20 runners Oliver Prior and Harrison Tremain, and Jack and Louis.

Good luck to all!
