UKYDL U17/U20 Season Report

Posted: 13th Sep 2017 by Lewis Smith

The final UKYDL upper age group meeting, for the composite ATIP team, took place at the Parliament Hill Track in North London on Sunday, 23rd July. The team is composed of U17 and U20 male and female athletes from Ashford AC, Thanet AC, Invicta East Kent AC, and Paddock Wood AC.

The match result would determine whether the team remained in the Southern Division 1D League or win promotion to the Premier Division 2B League. The call for support was answered by 37 athletes, with each putting in exceptional performances resulting in the team finishing as League winners. Team ATIP scored a League total of 2709.3 points, which was a huge 223.5 event points in front of second place Basildon Beagles with 2485.8 points, gaining Team ATIP promotion to the Premier League.

This was achieved by an incredible team effort and many individual performances, as well as the support of the officials and parents. The outcome also resulted in a total of 32 personal best performances and 5 season best performances, with some athletes possibly considering taking up new events.

Next season will be even more challenging as the Premier 2B League will include teams from Tonbridge AC and Croydon AC, both recognised as strong clubs. Team Manager, Tina Tappenden, will expect the same resolve from the athletes to take on this challenge and maintain the excellent team effort. Tina, a very happy team manager, would like to congratulate the team for all their hard work and dedication this season.

UKYDL Division South East 1 U13/U15 Match 4 Report

UKYDL Division South East 1 – U13/U15 Age Group

Lewes Athletics Track.                  Sunday, 15 July 2017

This was the last of the UKYDL Lower Age Group meetings and our second, if slightly colder, visit to Lewes. With our numbers again severely depleted, the team worked together as always to cover as many events as possible. We ran again as a combined team with Thanet AC but the task was even more challenging as unfortunately no Thanet Athletes attended. Sadly, we were aware that we would be relegated from this league but that didn’t stop everyone trying their hardest; and again we had a number of very impressive performances and a huge total of 36 PB’s.

The Under 13 Girls’ had some impressive results, including Kilali Dejeva winning both the 75m (10.90s) and 150m (21.50s), whilst Libby Turbutt won her 150m race (20.5s) and the Long Jump (4.54m).

In the Under 15 Girls’ category, Kaliyah Lacey won the 75m Hurdles (12.70s) and Grace Pitman won the Pole Vault (2.70m).

With only three boys in the Under 13’s team (Jack Saxby, Harry Harman, and James Paine); they all made a really big effort to contribute to the team.

The Under 15 Boys’ were led by a win by Kristian Samwell-Nash in the 200m and another club record (23.60s), and he followed this up with a win in the 300m (37.8s).

The day finished on a high with the Under 13 Girls’ winning a blistering 4x100m Relay, followed by the boys running a strategic and exciting 4x300m Relay making up three places on the last leg and managing to finish in 2nd place.

U13 Girls:

Naomi Parrott, Libby Turbutt, Asha Lacey, Loretta Brooks, Kilali Dejeva, Nadia Sadler-Reeves

U13 Boys:

Harry Harman, Jack Saxby, James Paine, Leo Norwood
