The Ashford/Thanet U15/U13 squad finished fine runners-up in the UK Youth Development League after ending up second to promoted Bracknell at Kingston.


It was an excellent display by the composite team with a superb double success by sprinter Hayden Dyke in the U13s winning the 100m and 200m A races with a personal best 26.4 in the latter.


Thanet teammate Conner Neal almost made it a clean sweep winning the 200m B race but just edged into second in the B 100m by .1 of a second after his personal best 13.5.


The team dominated the U15 discus with James Anderson winning the A and Kian Crawford taking the B event and Kian also won the A hammer with a personal best 30.51m in convincing fashion. Anderson also won the A shot with a personal best 14.14m and had another best with second in the high jump.
George Maher soared to victory in the U15 pole vault with a pb of 3.60m and notched a best in the 100m with 12.8.There were also personal bests for Jake Timmins, Connor Owen, Ellis Bennett, Joe Griffiths and Harry Pitman and good points from Marshall Smith.


The only other event double came in the U13 high jump with Luke Cressey taking the A win with 1.63m and George Seery the B with a personal best 1.30m.
Other bests came from Tom Keaveney, Stuart Allin and Matt O’Sullivan.


Sola Sowole shone in the U15 girls winning the A 100m in a pb 13.2 and B 200 with Alex Prickett recording personal bests in the A 200 and A 300m and a narrow second in the hurdles.


Faith Etokowo had a fine A win in the high jump and second in the B 75m hurdles while more bests came from Jacqueline Benson, Hannah Brooks, Faith Cox and Ellie Atkins.


Jade Curtis was the star of the U13 girls winning the 70m hurdles in a personal best 11.6 with Grace Pitman almost making it the double with second in the B race and Jade recorded another best winning the high jump and a second in the A long jump.


Other bests were recorded by Charlotte Clarke, Ashley Ward, Mia Hillyard, Abbie Potter and Bethany Smith.


Final tally: Bracknell 549, Ashford/Thanet 447.5, Kingston & Polytechnic 433.5, Brighton and Hove 404, Camberley 385, Winchester 302.
