Kent Young Athletes League Match 3, 3rd July Julie Rose Stadium

 Sunday’s sunny weather and home advantage was just what the youngsters of Ashford AC needed to produce an excellent team performance. The Under 13 boys had only 4 athletes but were able to cover 12 events and the sprint relay. In addition, they also achieved 3 personal best performances.

 Although the sun shone must of the day, a strong wind against in the finishing straight affected times, particularly in the sprints. However, this did not deter the team from producing excellent performances throughout the day. In fact, 30 personal best performances were achieved, with the girls outshining the boys by 18 to 12.  

Team Manager, Darren Ward, was more than satisfied with the team’s efforts and hopes the same commitment follows through to the last match at Medway Park on Sunday 7th. August.

Under 13 Boys: - 

Robert Cossey, Nathaniel Hughes, Adam Cross, Chase Arnold. 

Under 15 Boys: - 

Alexander Rampton, Daniel James, James Coward, Luke Hughes, Jonathan Ibukunoluwa, Theo Fotheringham, Daniel Smith, Alexander Rampton, Christopher Scrivens.

Kent Young Athletes League - Bromley, 14th June

Ella Saxby went within a tenth of a second of doing the sprint double for Ashford Under 13 girls at the Kent Young Athletes League meeting at Norman Park, Bromley.  She stormed to victory in the 150m A race in 20.5 but was just edged out in the 75m race by Chloe Morford from Dartford.  Ella also had a fine fourth in the A long jump with SarrisTeale second in the B event. Sarris was also fourth in the B 75m and fifth in the A high jump.

Overall the U13 girls were second to Medway and Maidstone after good points from Emily Turnbull, Grace Pitman, Olivia Price, Kaliyah Lacey and Scarlett Mongey.  Emily and Grace picked up fine seconds in the hammer event and Sarris, Ella, Olivia and Kaliyah were a close second in the 4x100m relay.

Jade Curtis notched a win in the B 75m hurdles as well as seconds in the A high jump and long jump as the U15 girls finished fourth on the day.

Yetunde Mongo was second in the A 100m with Lauren Chambers fourth in the B sprint and that trio were joined by Ashley Ward for a creditable second in the 4x100m relay.

Ella Hindle had two hard earned fourths in the shot and discus with other valuable points earned by Jacqueline Benson, Faith Cox, Joely Catt and Hannah Brooks.

Both the boys squads finished seventh with Harry Pittman going closes to victory with a photo finish second in the U15s 100m.  Harry also was third in the long jump while Christopher Scrivens battled well in the A field events third in the shot, fourth in the discus and sixth in the javelin. Also in the points were Daniel James, Tom Keaveney and Stuart Allin.

In the U13 boys Jonathan Ibukunoluma was second in the A 75m hurdles and cfourth in the long jump. Backing him up in the points were Tom Wills, Finley Windibank and Nathanial Hughes.

Overall ashford currently lie sixth in the table.
