Message from Graham Holder, KCAA President

Dear All

I'm sure you are all aware of the struggles faced for the Kent County Under 13, Masters and Combined Events Championships a couple of weeks ago and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that made the weekend possible. There was a strong risk due to the shortage of officials that the Under 13 events had to be cancelled. Fortunately, parents, coaches and helpers stepped up so that all of the events could take place. For this we are very grateful, as the last thing we want is for the athletes to lose out.

Unlike a lot of sports, all of the qualified officials and ancillary staff carry out their duties and give up their time for free. Each year it is getting more and more difficult to put on our Kent competitions due to lack of officials and we simply need more bodies to continue with these fantastic events.

So here is our plea if you are interested in assisting your county and your club athletes, coaches or parents in becoming a qualified official or helper, there are courses available to gain more knowledge and understanding of what's involved.

If you have a general enquiry or want to know more please contact our Officials Secretary Gill Freeman on officials@kcaa.org.uk

Thank you.

Graham Holder
