KYAL 1st Meet at Julie Rose Stadium.

On Saturday, 26th April 2025, Ashford AC and The Julie Rose Stadium hosted the first KYAL meet where Ashford AC competed in Division One for the first time. Ashford AC athletes participated in various events, achieving 32 personal bests and securing maximum points in some events. Additionally, a new club record was established during the competition.

In the field events, the U13 Boys team performed well, particularly in the throws. Dexter Carter, 6.83m, and Thomas Watson, 5.11m, both secured third in shot put for the A and B string, with Dexter achieving a personal best. In the discus throw, Matthew Tomsett with 13.20m and Thomas Watson with 10.43m secured third and second in the A and B string respectively. In the javelin event, Dexter Carter with 28.20m and Matthew Tomsett with 24.63m secured second and first for the A and B string respectively. In the U15B field events, Dillon Warner secured third in the B string with a height of 1.40m. Jake Phillips and Alexander Bull both achieved personal bests, securing first in Long Jump for the A and B strings with jumps of 5.16m and 4.85m respectively.

Our U13 Girls excelled in field events. Chloe Langfield and Emma Smith secured first in High Jump for both A and B string with a height of 1.35m, a personal best for Chloe. In Long Jump, Laura Gwillim secured third with 3.63m and Nancy Kemot second with 3.38m. Alexis Jacobs with 5.37m and Jessica Phillips with 5.28m secured third and first in Shot Put, while Amelia Curley and Indie Rae Rough secured second and first in Discus with 13.65m and 12.16m respectively. Jessica Phillips achieved a PB in Hammer Throw with 16.70m, securing second, with Amelia Curley securing first with 14.18m. In the U15 Girls field events, Sereniti Rankin and Sienna Morris achieved personal bests, securing second in the A string and third in the B string in Long Jump with 4.66m and 4.27m respectively. In Javelin Millicent Steele secured second with 11.99m for the B string.

On the track, our U15 Boys team performed admirably. Alexander Bull achieved a personal best of 12.81 seconds in the 100m, securing third place for the B string. Jake Phillips and Dillon Warner delivered impressive performances in the 300m, both achieving personal bests with times of 39.27 and 40.88 seconds, securing second and first places in the A and B string respectively. For the A string, Aiden Tomsett secured second place with a personal best time of 4:39.72 in the 1500m, while Finley Paton finished first with a time of 4:40.48 for the B string. Additionally, Jake Phillips achieved a personal best in the 80m Hurdles with a time of 12.32 seconds, securing first place for the A string.

In the U13 Boys category, Finlay Mathieson achieved a personal best of 28.85 seconds in the 200m, securing third place for the B string. Noah Dickens secured first place in the 1500m for the B string with a personal best time of 5:14.09. In the 75m Hurdles, Dexter Carter achieved a personal best time of 15.13 seconds, securing second place for the B string.

For our U13 Girls on the track, Alexis Jacobs securing first place for the B string with an exciting run in the 70m Hurdles with a time of 12.46, also achieving a personal best. Nancy Kernot secured third for the B string in the 150m race with a time of 22.34. Zara Chappell secured first in the U15 Girls 1500m A string with a personal best time of 5:11.30, while Natasha Stevens secured third in the B string with a time of 5:35.54. Sereniti Rankin secured second in the U15 Girls 75m Hurdles B string with a time of 13.19 and first with a remarkable run in the 300m A string with a time of 41.94, achieving a personal best and setting a new Club record.

In the relay events, our Under 13 Girls team, consisting of Chloe Langfield, Jessica Phillips, Laura Gwillim, and Emma Smith, delivered an outstanding performance in the 4x100m relay, securing first place with a time of 58.25 seconds. Similarly, the Under 15 Boys team, comprised of Dylan Davidson-Daniel, Aiden Tomsett, Finley Paton, and Oscar Barker, secured first place in the 4x300m relay with a remarkable time of 2:53.80, providing an exhilarating race.

Ashford AC concluded their inaugural Division One KYAL meet with a total of 509.5 points, securing 3rd place overall. The athletes of Ashford AC embraced the challenge of Division One, with some members making their debut in new events and achieving personal bests. We are extremely proud of our athletes' performances. There is no doubt that by the end of the four KYAL meets, new club records will be set and additional personal bests achieved. Congratulations to our athletes; we are immensely proud of your efforts.
